As you enter the lobby, be prepared to stop and stare at the walls around you, above you, in front of you, as THIS is what extravagance looks like. The Reverie Saigon is, by far, the most extravagant ( I apologize for using the same word again and again) hotel in Vietnam, if not in all of Southeast Asia. It is the one and only property that is privileged to be a member of The Leading Hotels of the World in all of Vietnam.
The landmark Times Square Building that is home to the Reverie Saigon is located in District 1. The property excels in its world–class hospitality and impeccable service. Sitting on the top floors, the views offer an incomparable perspective of the city below. Coming from a rustic island resort of Ninh Van Bay, it was a bit of a culture shock staying here. I entered the lobby, spun around, walked backwards into the elevator, and when I reached the designated floor to check in, my mouth was still open from saying WOW!
What I first noticed stepping out of the elevator was the stunningly beautiful peacock mosaic picture. It captured my attention and my heart, as I have a personal connection to Peacocks. In fact, the entire wall in one of the suites is Peacock themed, all made up of golden mosaic tiles. A work of art! Everything encountered I would define as grand.
It is almost impossible to describe the interior décor. It is something one must see for themselves. Words that come to mind however: bedazzling. sparkling, regal. All of the mosaics, which cover the walls, ceilings, hallways and bathrooms, are all extremely lavish, in the most tasteful way. All the furnishings and accent pieces in the rooms are haute Italian design, truly the best of Italian craftsmanship.
“I can’t think of any other property anywhere in the world that has brought together so many of Italy’s leading furnishings design brands… except, perhaps, a museum.” – Guilio Cappellini, Art Directo of Poltrona Frau Group and iconic trend setter.
Dining at the Reverie offers four restaurant selections with four very distinct settings. I had the opportunity to try two of them, each offering mouth watering selections. By far, my favorite dining experience was the incredible breakfast that The Reverie served. The dining room décor matched the display of food choices, both beautiful and elegant. I was in heaven.
Now, let’s talk spa. The hotel’s description: “a stunning melding of sophisticated, urban luxury and a decidedly European-inspired setting.” MY description: “imagine the inside of ‘I Dream of Genie’s’ bottle”. As soon as I opened the door to the spa, I felt as if I had stepped inside a glam genie bottle! I was surrounded by shimmery gold, yellow, orange and pink colors. It is undeniably Vietnams most luxurious city spa. The spa rooms, however, did not carry over the genie décor. Each room was furnished with dark woods and zen accents creating the perfect retreat for any treatment, My massage, in a word: amazing.
The Ho Chi Minh City – Saigon – is full of history and sights to see. From war museums to shopping and, most recently, The Reverie Saigon with its added luxury excursion: a private 60-foot yacht. It is available to guests of the hotel to gain a different perspective of the bustling metropolis from the Saigon River.
Many hotels stand out from my travels, but it is safe to say there is nothing else like this that I have encountered. There is only one, Reverie Saigon.
