Each of the Ocean House’s 49 guestrooms and 20 Signature Suites is inspired by the Rhode Island resort’s magnificent oceanfront setting, high atop a bluff overlooking Block Island Sound. Comfortable, soothing, and spacious, accommodations are beautifully appointed with turn-of-the-20th-century décor complete with custom wooden furnishings, a muted color scheme, and early New England artwork.
Every luxurious suite is individually decorated, each one offering a unique take on seaside sophistication. Suites boast sprawling private terraces with uninterrupted Ocean vistas. Indoors, enjoy open living and dining areas replete with seasonal gas fireplaces.

COAST offers a seasonal menu that changes nightly and showcases the finest of each season’s products. A collaboration with, and proximity to, local farms allows the chefs to source the highest quality ingredients of not only the season but of that day. This creates a distinctive dining experience and allows the restaurant to present the best possible menu every evening. *Jackets preferred for gentlemen; collared shirts required, ties are optional. Seaside Terrace features the best views that New England has to offer.
DUNE COTTAGE beach restaurant offers stunning ocean views from beneath a shaded pergola on the private beach—creating a dramatic setting for lunch on a seasonal basis. Reserved for resort guests and members, the atmosphere at this beachside restaurant has a casual elegance and offers a simple, yet sophisticated Mediterranean–inspired menu.
Showcasing an array of Veuve Clicquot champagnes, the SECRET GARDEN is a magical venue for intimate groups to enjoy delicious food and inventive champagne cocktails amid lush boxwood hedges and unobstructed ocean vistas.

About Ocean House
Famously known for its warm yellow facade and stunning views of the Atlantic, the Rhode Island Ocean House opened in 1868 just after the Civil War. For those who could afford the luxury of travel, Ocean House became the quintessential summer home attracting many distinguished guests in the early 1900s. The grand Victorian hotel was a genteel resort on the beach where generations of families and guests from across America came “to summer.”
Ocean House welcomed guests for 135 years but was closed in 2003 when it was deemed beyond feasible repair. In 2004 a new structure replicating the original exterior design was conceived. Today, this much-loved beach hotel has been recreated to convey the romance of its storied past and the rich character of Watch Hill, Rhode Island.
Viewed from the outside, all of the resort’s 247 windows remain in their original positions. More than 5,000 salvageable artifacts and furnishing elements were lovingly harvested from the original structure’s historic interior.
Ocean House is a proud member of the prestigious Relais & Chateaux, an association that sets the gold standard for unique, high-end, independent hotels and restaurants around the world. Over 50 years ago, the association was first conceived as a travel itinerary from Paris to the South of France with stops at charming and unique properties along the way.
